Letter of Approval for Domestic Insurer Prior to Application to Another State or Country

Pursuant to La. R.S. 22:70, a Louisiana domiciled insurer must obtain the approval of the Commissioner of Insurance prior to submission of application to any other state or country. An insurer may submit a request for such an approval to [email protected]. That request must include the state(s) or jurisdiction(s) to which the company is seeking to expand.

You should permit ten to fifteen days for the processing of the request and the approval must be obtained prior to submission of the application to another state or country
