Third Party Administrator Annual Report Information

Every year third party administrators must file a report with the Louisiana Department of Insurance. This is not a renewal as annual reports must be filed each year. There is a filing fee associated with this report. 

 
Who is required to file?

Any entity licensed as a third party administrator on the previous December 31 must file an annual report for that year. Please note that this requirement applies regardless of how long the entity was licensed during the applicable calendar year.

 
How do I file?

Third party administrator annual reports are filed electronically using the Industry Access System (IAS).  Instructions and information on the IAS are available on the login page.

    
What does the report include?

The annual report is as of the year that ended the previous December 31 and should include information only through December 31. Any changes subsequent to December 31 should not be in the annual report; however, in accordance with La. R.S. 22:1651(H), timely reporting of material changes is required separate from the annual report

 
What is the deadline?

All third party administrator annual reports are due March 1, and they must be postmarked no later than March 1. They should not be filed prior to December 31 of the applicable reporting year.

If an extension of time is needed to file the annual report, the request must be made in writing, including by electronic mail, and must be received by the LDI 7 to 14 days prior to the March 1 filing deadline. The extension request must include clear grounds and justification for the extension. An extension shall not be presumed based on the request; an extension is granted only if the requestor receives an affirmative response from the LDI.

       
What happens if I don't file?

Failure to file the annual report and fee will not result in an expiration of the license. It may, however, result in the revocation or suspension of the license. Such actions are reported to all other states as regulatory actions and may lead to additional actions by other states.
