Description of Accepted Action: The Department of Insurance is promulgating Regulation 127 as necessary to implement the provisions of the hurricane mediation program, which was enacted by Acts 2022, No. 591 of the Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature in response to a demonstrated need for effective, fair, and timely handling of residential property insurance claims for damages occasioned by a hurricane, named storm, or named windstorm event. Regulation 127 identifies the rules and procedural guidelines appliable to insurers, insureds, and mediation firms who elect to participate in the voluntary mediation program.
