Reimbursement of Examination Fees
Veterans applying for insurance licenses with the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) are eligible for reimbursement of the required exam fees through the Veterans Federal Exam Reimbursement Program. Upon completion of the licensing exam, veterans may apply for reimbursement of fees through the Veterans Affairs Administration. For more information about licensing reimbursement, access the VA online at www.GIBILL.va.gov or call 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551).
License Renewals and Continuing Education
A licensed producer or adjuster who is prevented from meeting the continuing education requirements and/or prevented from filing a license renewal in a timely manner due to military service may request a waiver of those requirements and waiver of any late fee associated with the late filing or reinstatement of an insurance producer or adjuster license. To make such a request the licensee must:
- Submit a written request for the waiver with an explanation of why they were unable to meet the continuing education requirements and/or file the renewal in a timely manner.
- Provide copies of their deployment or other orders confirming their engagement in military service during the renewal period.
Producers and adjusters may submit this information up to two years after the lapse of a license to request that the license be reinstated without meeting the continuing education requirement and without paying a penalty or late fee for reinstatement. However, upon reinstatement of the license, the producer or adjuster becomes responsible for meeting the continuing education requirements for the next renewal of that license. If an additional waiver is required due to recurring military service renewal or reinstatement of the license, the producer or adjuster must file such a request again.
